On January 3, 1986 my world was
collapsing. I was an alcoholic and drug user (but
still lived a respectable life in the public’s view), my dad died a few months earlier, I had just suffered a
miscarriage, I had such grief at the sight of my mother’s pain and the
thought of her now being a widow, my job was not fulfilling, and I thought
perhaps suicide was the way for me to go.
While trying to figure out how to solve all of these current problems, and
realizing I had
already tried everything else to try to find peace and joy in my life, on
that day in 1986, I decided to try the only thing I never did - Jesus. I said, “I will try Jesus.”
The moment I said that I could feel the burdens
lift off of me and I was a changed person. I was instantly delivered from
drugs, alcohol and cigarettes, had a new life, and within 2
weeks I was pregnant again. My husband
Charles and I began to go to a Baptist Church where we learned our
Christian fundamentals. About a year and a half later
we were baptized in the Holy Spirit and went to a non-denominational church for about a year
until the Lord called us into full time ministry.
We moved
from Cleveland, OH area to Virginia Beach, VA for my husband to go to
Regent University and me to go to Providence Bible School. After several
months, my husband began working at The Family Channel to support us, and
I began to work at CBN’s new television outreach, Home Entertainment
Network. We both had fulfilling
careers there and the 'official' ministry was put on-hold. We went
through the school of life in Virginia though. We were very active in
leadership and ministry roles in a spirit filled Baptist church and then
went on to help plant a church and then attended several other
non-denominational churches after that. We also went through many
hardships that ultimately strengthened us and brought us closer to the
Lord.
One
hardship I suffered was the severe migraines I began to get in 1993 that I
suffered with until 2001. They almost disabled me. At least two weeks
out of every month I had disabling migraines and the other weeks I tried
my best to get by. That is a whole story in itself.
But during that time Satan kept trying to pull me away from the
Lord – “What is your God doing for you now? You were much better off when
you were not saved. You had such a better life then. Why don’t you give
it up?” I felt tremendous attacks during this time.
But my faith in God and in His ability to heal me and hope to be
able to live a productive life some day again never wavered. I kept
feeding my soul and spirit Scripture daily.
Then in
2001 I had an operation that healed me of the
migraines. When I healed from the surgery, it seemed like the Lord turned
on a switch and began to show me things about heaven. The Lord
began to show me more of what life is like in heaven and especially how
what we are doing while on earth relates to it. For two
years I studied the
Word, prayed, and mediated on what the Lord revealed to me. The
focus was heaven and how our lives today relate to it. It was
thrilling yet very serious.
I began to
feel I had to tell the world about it. I sought ordination to carry
out this new assignment the Lord was preparing
me for. I found the United Christian Faith Ministries and received
ordination through them on-line. My commitment to share what the Lord had
shown me became even stronger. Our 501(c)3
ministry, Perfect Will Ministries, also known as Eternal Life Skills,
officially began in June of 2003.
I began offering a CD called "Exploring
Life in Heaven" on-line, free of charge to all who requested it.
This CD has been requested by nearly 30,000 people in over 200 countries since
June of 2003!
The
response to the CD has astounded me. I have offered other
items ‘free’ on the internet, and a few requests have trickled in. The
response to this CD trickled in for a few months too, and then – bang –
requests began to pour in in December 2003 and have not stopped. People
are writing to say how their lives have changed. Some have accepted the
Lord for the first time, others have
strengthened their relationship with the Lord and understand their purpose
during this time on earth better.
At the same
time, some also probably feel that it is ‘too
far out there’ I suspect. I know what I speak about is not preached
from the pulpit much and it requires one to ‘think outside the box’ of
what most churches have found comfortable for years and most people follow
without question. It is not a traditional
teaching, that is for sure! Sometimes our traditions become so
comfortable, we don’t look to see what the Word
really says about things. But it is time for
us to look hard. Christians are being lulled into thinking that all they
have to do is walk down the aisle and then continue life as usual.
Salvation is guaranteed by that initial commitment to the Lord, but what
we do with our lives after that matters much
more than most people think. That is what I am trying to tell
others.
Our newest outreach is through "Exploring
Life in Heaven with Rose Martin" in Branson, MO. I've taken the
message on the CD and transformed it into a multimedia presentation.
It starts where the CD leaves off and answers many more questions.
Heaven becomes real to audiences. I believe the Lord will spread the
word about this live presentation, as He did the CD. Peoples lives
will be transformed because of the discoveries they make in this show!
